People are hoarding toilet paper, now it's time to hoard empty toilet rolls, too!

Whether you're in quarantine or just laying low, don't take out your recycling just yet!  There are plenty of things to be done with the things you THOUGHT you were done with.
And the first one up is....toilet paper rolls.


While not everyone will  have all the art-supplies that we have lying around (Ok, that's something I kind of hoard on a regular basis) you should definitely be able to find at least something that can work for this project.

Today we made TP dolls/action figures.

With some TP rolls, a pair of scissors, glue or tape (or both) and whatever other odds and ends you can find around the house, you can have them.spens some time making new toys that will keep your kids entertained for a bit.

We cut pics out of magazines, decorated the background TP rolls, and glued the pics of people and other creatures onto those bad boys.



We used elmers glue, tempura paint, washi tape, pipe cleaners, but we also used nailpolish (adds some sparkle and its something you may have at home even if you don't have that other arty stuff.  It's also great for embellishing pictures. Just make sure to ventilate the area.)




Ps my kids did this project while I conceived of this blog and brought it to fruition, and they're still at it!  More pictures to follow!

We're Stuck at Home

We're stuck at home. We're not the first ones to be stuck at home with kids.  From minor things like fevers and bad weather, to the more dramatic reasons like wars and plagues (did I actually just say that?  Oh my!) there are lots of reasons families have been stuck at home. So here we are. And it seems we're in good company. This whole Corona quarantine/lockdown seems to be throwing everyone for a loop, myself included.  And as someone who couldn't seem to catch up on life beforehand, having my rambunctious kids home full time in our small apartment with almost no notice is definitely not helping the situation. But there will be good here.  We will find a way. This blog won't be pinterest-worthy.  Any functioning we have is going to be sloppily pasted together. But that's the thing, we're all in this together, and while there's a high potential of going stir-crazy (I don't like that word, can anyone help me come up with a better phrase ...
